Outraged by the Council’s refusal to help an elderly lady in Allandale, Cllr Lloyd Harris took action to do the job himself.
The problem was the lady was restricted to her home due her frailty. Overgrown bushes and trees in her garden were preventing light from entering her rooms. She had to keep her lights on day and night.
Lloyd with help removed a large tree branch, thus allowing light to return to her home. The grateful resident thanked him and said “this is the first time in years that I have turned my light off in the daytime”.
At the Dacorum Council Environment Committee on Tues 9th September I heard about plans to save money by a reduction of service in the Borough Council’s 36 sites where people can bring their recycling.
As a result of questioning from me, the Council admitted the review would look at removing some of the smaller sites and reducing what is collected at others.
On Tuesday I was called by the Gazette with the sad news of the closure of the Heights Post Office counter within the Co-op.
I said in my interview to the paper “It just shows that all the post ofice is interested in is money rather than providing a service.”

Having been alerted to the state of the Paston Road garages by a resident of Fletcher Way, I have managed to get the Council to board up the two garages that were vandalised.
Mitie, the Council’s contractors will fit new metal doors, however they are unable to give me a date when they will be installed.
